My Approach
I believe that the foundation of great therapy is rooted in the development of a positive relationship with your therapist. With this knowledge, it is my goal to co-create an environment in which you feel heard, understood, and safe. Using evidence-based therapies I can guide and support you in creating meaningful and lasting change.
My practice focuses on supporting adults and teens struggling with relationship difficulties and trauma, depression, anxiety, life transition, and loss/grief. I also have an abundance of experience working with perinatal mental health, parenting difficulties, seniors, and caregiver stress.
During our work together, I will draw upon my knowledge and training to tailor my approach to best meet your needs. I bring compassion, warmth, and curiosity while we employ tools like mindfulness, reflective practice, body awareness, and the development of coping and regulation skills. I value transparency and want you to understand what we are doing and why, so that I can support you in better knowing yourself, understanding where you are getting stuck, and attaining the goals you have.
About Me
I have a Masters degree in Social Work from McGill University and am a Registered Clinical Social Worker (RCSW) with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW - # 17215). An RCSW is a separate class of registration that recognizes advanced practice skills and clinical knowledge. In addition, an RCSW may assess, diagnose, and treat mental disorders based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
I have over a decade of extensive work experience in a wide range of community and private settings, working with clients of all ages across the lifespan. I deeply recognize the importance of understanding how our relationships and lived experiences shape who we are, and how they impact the ways we relate to others and the world around us.
After training in various approaches, I have adopted a theoretical orientation that is relational, experiential, attachment-focused, and trauma-informed. When working together, I draw heavily from my training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and Internal Family systems (IFS), with the incorporation of other therapeutic modalities as our work together develops to best meet your needs.
As a certified facilitator for Circle of Security Parenting, along with my other attachment focused trainings and experience, I am also able to effectively support those in the early stages of parenthood or who are experiencing parenting struggles. The focus on this work is founded in attachment theory and attunement with your child.
